COUPLE SENTENCED FOR RASH OF MAIL THEFTS

  

A federal Judge in Waco has sentenced s Central Texas couple who stole mail from more than 80 cities, including several in Washington County.

39-year-old Charles Hattenbach received six years and nine months in federal prison and 29-year-old Kathryn Hubbert got four years, Wednesday.

The two pleaded guilty this past summer to conspiracy to steal mail, bank fraud, theft of government property and other charges.

Federal prosecutors say the Temple couple robbed post offices, collection boxes and parcel lockers throughout the state.

They included post offices in Brenham, Burton, Chappell Hill and Washington.

Authorities said the thefts happened from December 2013 until March 2014.

More than 50,000 pieces of mail was believed taken by the pair.
