COURT-AT-LAW CANDIDATES FACE SLEW OF QUESTIONS
Much of last (Wednesday) night’s KWHI political forum was spent hearing from the two men squaring off in the Republican Primary race for Washington County Court at Law judge.
Incumbent Matthew Reue and challenger Eric Berg received most of the question, asked by the audience at the Brenham National Bank as well as the KWHI listeners.
One person questioned Reue on a Facebook posting that asked supporters to make a donation to a local charity instead of contributing directly to his campaign.
Reue said there’s nothing improper with asking for donations…
Berg says he disagrees with Reue and that the law is very clear…
The two also faced questions concerning probable cause, favoritism and time dedicated to the position.
Also last (Wednesday) night, candidates for the three contested Justice of the Peace positions faced questions about qualifications for the position and their relationship with local law enforcement.
Running for Precinct-2 Justice of the Peace are incumbent Douglas Cone and Dennis Todd; Precinct-3, incumbent Roy May and Ken Tofel; and Precinct-4, Bill Kendall, Val Kiecke and Robin Luedtke.
There are no contested races on the Democrats’ ballot.
Primary election day is Tuesday, March 4.
Early voting begins February 18th.
