CROSSING REPAIRS DELAYED

Railroad officials say the crossing on FM 109 in Brenham is expected to be closed until at least next Tuesday.

The gates on the west side of the Burlington-Northern-Santa Fe Railroad crossing were destroyed when a pickup truck driver crashed into a train Wednesday afternoon.

17-year old Garrett Krause of Bellville was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

BNSF officials initially said they had expected the crossing to reopen sometime Thursday, but a railroad spokesman said Friday afternoon that it will be closed until at least next Tuesday.

BNSF officials did not comment on the reason for the closing extension.

  1. The bump will never be fixed right trains have to have one side banked a few inches higher than the other when track is in curve. The sharper the curve the more elevation needed. So go slow over the track.

    1. Yes it would be nice if they could fix the bumpy track while it’s closed for other repairs

    2. I wouldnt hold my breath, they arent the least bit concerned about how bad that crossing is, nor how bad it tears up vehicles who have to cross there. And there has been replacement materials to fix it sitting in the ditch right there since last summer but they just keep leaving that huge hole in the road anyway. And all this while they have 109 closed down, notice THEY arent being inconvenienced at all, they are running trains through there like nothing ever happened. When something happens that interrupts THEM getting trains through, it will get fixed in a few days. If its only something that effects motorists, well you folks will just hafta wait until they get around to it.
