He is the two-time defending state champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and was the 2016 winner in the 200-yard individual medley, as well.

Smith posted on the web site: collegeswimming.com, “Texas A&M is the perfect school for me! Jay and Jason are great coaches, the facilities and academics are first class, and the team made me feel like family as soon as I stepped on campus. I’m excited about the future of Texas A&M Swimming and can’t wait to be a part of the Aggie family. Gig ’Em!”

Earlier this year, Smith was named National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association and Speedo Boys High School Swimming All-America.

He was selected to first team all-state in the 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM and 200-yard freestyle by the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (TISCA) after this past swim season.
