CUBETTE SOFTBALL FALLS TO TOMBALL, 4-2
The Brenham Cubettes squandered early opportunities and fell to Tomball in District 20/5A softball, Tuesday night, 4-2.
Brenham left five runners on base (three in scoring position) in the first two innings, while taking a 1-0 lead.

With the Cubettes (15-9/8-3) on top 1-0 in the third inning, Tomball pitcher Carter Spexarth helped her own cause with a solo home run to tie the game 1-1.
The Cougars (13-9/5-6) took the lead in the fourth inning when Imani Edwards doubled in Cassidy Burroughs, followed by Kat Thompson’s two-run line drive homerun. Burroughs’ double and Thompson’s home run came after a dropped fly ball extended the inning.
The Cubettes, who took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Maddie Weatherly’s rbi-single, cut the lead to 4-2 in the fifth when Kat Marshall’s sacrifice fly scored Shae Harris (2-3 with two runs scored).
That was as close as the Cubettes would get, despite threatening in the top of the seventh.
Savannah Bartay singled and Harris reached on an error with one out in the seventh, but back-to-back fly ball outs to left field ended the game.

The road doesn’t get any easier for the Cubettes as they host 9th-ranked Willis (26-2/9-1), Thursday night at 7:00 @ Alumni Field.
