CUBETTES FALL IN FROZEN ROUND ROCK

The Brenham Cubettes fell to Lubbock Coronado, 7-1 Friday afternoon at the Round Rock Invitational.

After falling behind 1-0 in near-freezing conditions at Stoney Point High School, the Cubettes (5-4) knotted the game up in the bottom of the first on back-to-back two out his by Shae Harris and Macie Becker.

The game remained tied until the top of the third when the Mustangs took advantage of two Cubette errors to plate three unearned runs.

Another Brenham fielding miscue eventually led to back-to-back home runs in the top of the fifth by Coronado’s Eva Holland and Courtney Barnhill.

Harris paced the Cubettes’ offense with three hits and a run scored, while Becker finished 2-for-3 with an rbi.

The Cubettes now get ready for the District 19/5A opener, Tuesday night at Tomball Memorial.  First pitch is set for 7:00.

The game can be heard on KWHI and www.kwhi.com.
