CUBETTES FALL TO MAGNOLIA IN RAIN-SOAKED CONTEST

After numerous rain delays Tuesday night, the Brenham Cubettes fell to Magnolia, 6-5 at Alumni Field.

The game was tied 5-5 going into the top of the sixth, when Grayson King gave the Lady Bulldogs (14-3/4-3) the lead for good with a solo home run.

The Cubettes (13-9/4-3) jumped out to a 5-0 lead, after three innings.

Kat Marshall’s single drove home Kramer Eschete in the first inning.  McGee Eschete scored on an error to give the Cubettes a 2-0 lead.

Amanda Little doubled to lead off the second, then scored on Kramer Eschete’s ground ball out.

Brenham added two runs in the third, Caroline Schroeder led off with a single and scored on Jenna Hardy’s double.  Hardy scored on a single by Little.

Magnolia evened up the game with two runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth.  Just one of those five Lady Bulldogs’ runs was earned due to three Cubette errors.

After Little retired the first two Magnolia batters in the sixth, King homered to right field to give her team a 6-5 lead and the win.

Little took the loss in the circle, but led the Cubettes’ hitters, going 2-for-3 with a double and rbi.  Hardy had a double and an rbi.  Marshall, Schroeder and Kaitlin Whitehead added singles.

The Cubettes will open the second half of district play, Thursday night at Magnolia West at 7:00.
