CUBETTES-MUSTANGS FACE OFF IN REGION QUARTERFINALS
Familiar foes will square off in the Region III/5A Quarterfinals, when Brenham takes on Magnolia in a best two-of-three series, beginning Friday night in Magnolia.
The two were part of a three-way tie for the district championship along with Willis with 12-2 marks – with each team beating the other once.
Both teams are unbeaten in the post-season. The Cubettes swept Leander Rouse (10-0, 16-2) and College Station (4-2 and 4-1). The Lady Mustangs rolled past Eastview (6-2 and 11-2) and Lindale (8-0 and 7-0).
The two split their meetings during the regular season, with Magnolia West (20-13) winning in Brenham, 4-0. Brenham (22-10) returned the favor in Magnolia, 7-2.
Meg Morris has been a rock in the circle for the Cubettes, giving up just four earned runs in 24 post-season innings.
Adriana Adams has been equally tough as she threw back-to-back shutouts against Lindale, including a no-hitter in game-two.

Annie Cangelosi has helped lead the Cubettes’ offense with eight hits, four runs scored and five runs batted in, in four games.
The Cubettes have scored 34 runs on 49 hits in the playoffs, so far.
Kaitlyn Goike has had multi-hit games in all four of the Lady Mustangs’ post-season games.
Magnolia has scored 36 runs on 46 hits in four playoff games.
