CUBETTES POUND MAGNOLIA, 9-1
The Brenham Cubettes pounded out 13 hits and scored in each of the first five innings, en route to a 9-1 win over Magnolia at Alumni Field, Tuesday afternoon.
The Cubettes (8-6/2-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, keyed by Kelly Jurden’s leadoff single and Macie Becker’s two-run double.
The Cubettes would continue to extend their lead throughout the ball game, as pitcher Colleen Bentke was able to pitch herself out of several jams.
After Magnolia (10-5/2-2) had cut the Cubettes’ lead to 4-1 with a run in the third, Autumn Pauler got the run right back with a home run to lead off the bottom of the inning.
Bentke would extend the lead to 7-1 the next inning, with a two-run homer.
The Cubettes will be back in action next Tuesday when they travel to Tomball to face the first-place Cougars at 6:45. The game can be heard live on KWHI and www.kwhi.com, beginning at 6:25.
