CUBETTES ROLL TO WIN IN PLAYOFF OPENER
A seven-run fifth inning marked an early end to the Cubettes’ opening game in the Bi-District playoffs, Thursday night, as they rolled past Leander Rouse, 10-0.
The Cubettes (19-10) jumped out to the early lead, as Shae Harris’ groundball drove home Savannah Bartay in the first inning.
Brenham extended its lead to 3-0 with two more runs in the second, as Brette Kohring drove home Annie Cangelosi with a double. Kohring then scored on a groundball out by Meg Morris.
Morris, meanwhile was shutting down a potent Raider offense on just three hits.

The Cubettes then closed out the game in the fifth inning as they erupted for seven runs—all with two outs.
After the first two Cubettes flew out, an error on a groundball by Maddie Weatherly kept the inning alive. Cangelosi and Korhing followed with run-scoring hits.
Kelly Jurden and Bartay each drove in runs with singles right before Harris ended the game with a three-run double to left field.
Jurden, Bartay, Annie Cangelosi, Kohring and Sally Cangelosi each had two hits for the Cubettes.

Briyana Pool led the Raiders (24-7) with two singles, while Yvonne Castillo was 1-for-2.
Rouse played the game without star catcher/first baseman Bailey “Boo Boo” Vanoy, who suffered a dislocated elbow in a collision during the team’s regular season finale.
Brenham can close out the best two-of-three series tonight (Friday) in game-two, set for 6:00 back at Rockdale High School.
