CUBS CELEBRATE VETS; CLOBBER WILLIS, 16-1

The Brenham Cubs paid tribute to local veterans with a stirring pre-game ceremony at Firemen’s Park Tuesday night, then went out and whipped Willis, 16-1.

The Cubs, already leading 1-0, erupted for eight runs in the second inning.  Ryan Newman led the offensive explosion with a three-run homer, his fifth home run of the season.

Hoffman finished with three hits, while Newman added two.

Sam McElreath went 2-for-4 with two runs and two rbi’s.

The Cubs ripped 14 hits off Willis pitching, with ten different Cubs adding to that total.
