CUBS-EAGLES SET FOR BI-DISTRICT BATTLE TONIGHT

The Brenham Cubs will open the 2016 playoff with a battle against the Georgetown Eagles, tonight at Bastop.

The Cubs (7-3) were runners up in District 20/5A with a 5-2 mark, while the Eagles (8-2) finished District 19/5A play tied for second at 6-2.

Cubs Head Coach Glen West says this has been a really good week for the Cubs…

 

As for the Eagles, West says slowing down their high-powered passing game is crucial…

 

Quarterback Chandler Herman has completed 67-percent of his passes for 2503 yards and 27 touchdowns.  Beau Corrales has caught 84 passes for 1096 yards and 14 touchdowns, while Caden Leggett has caught 52 passes for 970 yards and nine touchdowns.

As for the Cubs’ offense, West says they must keep their hands on the football…

 

Meanwhile, Eagles Head Coach Jason Dean says senior leadership has been one of the keys to the Eagles’ success…

 

Dean says he does not expect the Cubs to make many mistakes…

 

Dean says if the Eagles hope to move on to the second round, they must contain the Cubs’ potent running attack…

 

Kickoff at Bastrop’s Memorial Stadium is set for 7:30.
