High school football has kicked off the 2016 season as two-a-days have begun across the State of Texas.

In Brenham, the Cubs are looking to rebound from a 4-7 season in 2015 – a season in which the Cubs qualified for the post season by winning their last two games of the year.

Cubs head coach Glen West, appearing on Monday night’s Brenham Sports Line, says things got off to a great start Monday morning…

The Cubs return a talented group of veteran starters from last year’s team.  However, West says they don’t have a lot of depth, and they’ll have to make up for that by “out-working” their opponents…

Defensively, the Cubs return All-District selections: Marquez Bimage (DE); Raekwon Bell (DT); Eryk Preston (DB); and Devin Williams (LB).

Offensively, returnees include three offensive linemen: Jose Aguado, Colson Altman and Shannon Lambert.  Also back are: leading receiver, Darvis Watson; running back Tamarus McWilliams and quarterback Jacob Oehrlein.

Also returning is All-District kicker Tien Pham.

Coach West says this gives the team a solid core of talent…
