CUBS POUND MONTGOMERY; PANTHERS WIN–LADY PANTHERS FALL

Tough defense led the Brenham Cubs to a 54-24 win over former district-rival Montgomery, Tuesday night at the Brenham High School gym.

The Cubs’ defensive pressure took control from the start, limiting the Bears to just 10 first-half points.

The Cubs (7-4) led 13-6 after the first quarter and outscored the Bears, 22-4 in the second quarter to open up a 35-10 lead at halftime.

The defense got even more intense in the third quarter as Brenham limited Montgomery to just two points, extending their lead to 46-12.

The Cubs’ balanced scoring attack was led by Cjay Miles with 14 points and Antoine Lister added 12.

The Cubs will be back in action at the Montgomery Tournament, Thursday through Saturday.

Brenham will open against Edna, Thursday at 3:00.
