CUBS SCRIMMAGE IN FRONT OF HUGE CROWD

The Brenham Cubs took to the field Thursday night for a Green-White scrimmage, en lieu of their season opener with Houston Westside, which was cancelled due to Hurricane Harvey.

A large crowd turned out for the inter-squad game, which raised funds for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

Cubs head coach Glen West said after the game that he saw some really good things out of the Cubs…

The team got rushing touchdowns from Tamarus MdWilliams, Weldon Patterson, Ralph Kallie and Kendarin Ray.  Ray also completed a touchdown pass to Monterrious Moore.

Proceeds from the tickets and concessions go to the Red Cross’ Hurricane Harvey relief fund.

Coach West said the event raised over $2,000 for the Red Cross.

The Cubs will now open the 2017 season next Friday, when they host the Elgin Wildcats at 7:30 at Cubs Stadium.  The game can be heard on KWHI and www.kwhi.com.
