CUBS SHUTDOWN COUGARS, 48-0

The Brenham Cubs set the tone for Friday night’s 19/5A battle at Tomball when they scored just three plays into the contest, and rolled to a 48-0 victory.

The Cubs (5-3/4-1) opened the game with a 25-yard run by Ernest Patterson, followed by a 9-yard Patterson run, then Caleb Hill hit Jaquay Cross with a 38-yard touchdown pass, giving Brenham a 7-0 lead just 50 seconds into the game.

Walter Thomas had a big night defensively as he recovered a fumble that he returned for a touchdown—which was called back on a questionable illegal block call.  Moments later he picked off a pass and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown.
