Chase Brooks’ three-pointer with six seconds left in regulation forced overtime, as the Brenham Cubs went on to defeat the Huntsville Hornets, 79-69, Friday night in Huntsville.

The Cubs (19-8/9-4) trailed, 60-57 when Brooks knotted the game up.  Brenham then went on to outscore the Hornets, 19-9 in the overtime.

The win was a huge road victory for the Cubs, who maintain second place in the district, one-game back of Montgomery (14-1), but now lead Magnolia and Waller (both 9-6), by a game-and-a-half each, and Huntsville by two full games with three left to play.

Courtland Sutton led the team with 25 points, while Brooks finished with 21.  Cjay Miles added 12 points, while Ja’Corey Colvin chipped in 11.

The Cubs will host Caney Creek, Tuesday night at the Brenham Gym.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 with a 7:15 pre-game show on KWHI.
