CUBS/PANTHERS BEGIN TWO-A-DAYS

High school football two-a-day get underway today across the state, including Brenham and Burton where the Cubs and Panthers get ready for 2015.

The Cubs were 9-4 last year, advancing to the third round of the playoffs.

The Cubs will be looking to replace three high-powered offensive weapons: Earnest Patterson, Caleb Hill and Jaquay Cross who all graduated and are now with the Blinn Buccaneers.

Back are defensive standouts: Khevon Shepard, Deon Earls Marquez Bimage and DeJuan Ramirez; along with running back Trumaine Sweed and All-State kicker Tien Pham.

The Cubs will open the 2015 season, Friday, August 28th at home to Houston Lamar at 7:30.  All Cubs games can be heard on KWHI and www.kwhi.com.

The Brenham Sports Line will broadcast live from the Kruse Field House at the High School Monday night at 5:35 on KWHI and www.kwhi.com.

The Panthers were 8-4 last year, advancing to the Area round of the playoffs.

The Panthers lost quarterback Luke Huffer and defensive end Lewis Brown to graduation, but return starters Jamon Bradley, Cole Eckerman, Dustin Hall and Luke Salinas.

The Panthers’ season opener is set for Friday the 28th, when they travel to Thorndale for a 7:30 game.

 

Brenham Cubs Season Football Tickets go on sale to last year's ticket holders today through Thursday, at the High School.

All remaining football tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday, August 10th at 8:00 AM on a first come, first served basis.

A ticket for the season (5 home football games) costs $50 for seats with a back and $45 for seats without a back.

  1. Thank you for covering the football and volleyball teams who are working hard to get ready for the fall, but how about a little love for the band? Brenham HS Band started practice last week.
