DELAYS CONTINUE FOR MUSEUM REPAIRS

Officials with the Brenham Heritage Museum say the much-needed repairs to their historic building are still on hold.

Executive director Doug Price told the Brenham Banner Press that they have not yet begun the repairs and are awaiting the city’s engineer and the museum’s architect to finalize plans.

The museum received extensive water damage from heavy rains last year, and that revealed a number of other problems with the historic building, including: the electrical system, duct work, and making the restrooms compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Price says the process has been “frustrating.”

Price estimates the repairs could cost as much as $400,000. Museum officials are also looking at how to pay for the needed repairs, because insurance only covered the water damage.
