DISASTER AID AVAILABLE TO SOME NON-PROFITS

Washington County has been included in a federal disaster declaration due to severe storms back in April.

Because of the declaration, low-interest federal loans will be available to some local private nonprofit organizations.

Included are private non-profits that provide essential services of a governmental nature, which are eligible for assistance from the federal Small Business Administration.

Up to $2-million is available to qualifying non-profits to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets.

The administration can also lend additional funds to help with the cost of improvements to protect, prevent or minimize the same type of disaster damage from occurring in the future.

Other area counties in the disaster declaration are Austin, Bastrop, Colorado, Fayette, Grimes, Montgomery and Waller counties.

Applicants may apply online using an electronic loan application at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.

Disaster loan information and application forms are also available from SBA’s Customer Service Center by calling (800) 659-2955 or emailing: disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
