LEMAN WINS DISTRICT 13 RUNOFF

Ben Leman

Former Grimes County Judge Ben Leman will be the Republican nominee for the District-13 State Representative election in November.

Leman won Tuesday’s runoff election over Austin County business woman Jill Wolfskill.

Leman finished with 8052 votes—or 57%, to Wolfskill’s 6000 votes—or 43%.

Leman says he’s obviously elated with the victory…

It was Wolfskill who was ahead after the original primary in March, but Leman saw a drastic turnaround in the runoff.  Leman says he attributes that to the one-on-one nature of the runoff…

Leman will now face Democrat Cecil Webster in the November general election.

Leman says his first step is to re-unite the Republican Party…

Leman will now also assume the District-13 seat until the end of the year, after Leighton Schubert left the post for a position at Blinn College.

Both Lehman and Wolfskill agreed the loser of Tuesday’s election would drop out of a runoff for the remainder of Schubert’s term.

In Washington County, the results nearly mirrored the District-wide numbers, with Leman taking 1486 votes, which is 55%, and Wolfskill finishing with 1205 or 45%.

  1. This is good news. Ben Leman has both the skill and the temperament to enable him to work effectively with all members of the Texas House to bring both unity and conservative principles together insuring successful government. This is a talent dramatically absent in our contentious society.
