DISTRICT CLERK’S OFFICE, ATTORNEY REMAIN SILENT ON CHARETTE CHARGES

Sources are remaining tight-lipped regarding the charges brought forth against Robbie Gail Charette.

Charette, a Brenham lawyer accused of campaign finance violations, was defended in a statement released this week by her law firm, Lewis Thomas Law PC.  When asked about the case, Thomas said he didn’t want to reveal the charges before the Washington County District Clerk’s Office, but he is aware that the charges are misdemeanors.  He also said he knows that the case has not been assigned to a court yet.

When asked for comment, District Clerk Tammy Brauner said there is “no public information on Charette and her charges at this time.”

Before March’s Republican Primary for Washington County Court at Law, Austin County District Attorney Travis Koehn was appointed as a special prosecutor to investigate claims against Charette, who lost in her bid against Judge Eric Berg.  The Texas Rangers were also involved in the investigation.
