DONATIONS STILL NEEDED FOR SENIOR CENTER

Officials with the Washington County Healthy Living Association say donations continue to come in for their “Champions for Seniors” fundraising effort, but more is needed.

Dottie Schaer (sheer), chair of the fundraising campaign, says they are halfway to their goal of $120,000.

Schaer says donations allow the center to continue serving lunches daily to hundreds of people and also fund ongoing activities at WCHLA’s Senior Center.

Schaer said that no amount has to be pledged to be recognized as a “Champion for Seniors.”  There is also no minimum donation amount for recognition, she added.

She adds that, the association appreciates every gift, encourage memorials and honorariums and will acknowledge each gift with a handwritten note.

Officials say the donations help provide homebound meals to more seniors in need of this vital service.

WCHLA officials also said the organization needs another 15-passenger van to transport seniors to places like appointments with doctors and to the senior center. Donations are also needed to fund operations associated with the transportation service.

WCHLA now has a membership of more than 2,600 senior citizens. It dedicated its new Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activity Center last February.

Donations can be made online at www.SeniorCenterBrenham.com or mailed to WCHLA at P.O. Box 401, Brenham 77834.
