It’s the Fourth of July weekend meaning millions of Texans will be on the state’s highways and byways while others will take their boats out for a holiday fishing trip.
Trooper Jimmy Morgan of the Bryan office of the Texas Department of Public Safety says they are concerned enough that this weekend is no holiday for them. He says to be extra careful on your boats if you head out to Lake Somerville, be extra careful while driving and don’t drink and drive while operating any type of vehicle, on land or water.
The DPS will once again have Operation C.A.R.E. or Combined Accident Reduction Effort, with every available law enforcement officer out on patrol, strictly enforcing all traffic laws. There is a special emphasis on seat belt violators, speeders, and as always drunk drivers.
