DRAEHN WILL NOT RUN FOR REELECTION
A longtime member of the Brenham school board says he will not run for reelection in May.
Dr. Donald Draehn has confirmed he is stepping down, saying he’d like let someone with “new ideas and energy” join the board.
Draehn has been a member of the board since he was first elected in 1984—31 years.
Draehn says that since 1984, he’s been involved in building or remodeling every school in the district—saying that taxpayers should be proud of the schools, built with your their dollars.
Draehn goes on to say the BISD has a good board, but there is a need for change and innovation.
Brenham Police Sgt. Kelvin Raven has filed for the seat.
The filing deadline is Friday.
