EARLY PRIMARY VOTING BEGINS TUESDAY

  

Early voting begins for the March 4^th primary on Tuesday.  Washington County Clerk Beth Rothermel says the voter ID law is in full effect during this election so be ready to show not only your voter registration card but have your recognized identification with a photo.  She says they can make any needed changes when you vote.

The first time the voter ID law was in full effect was during November state constitutional elections but Rothermel expects to have a much higher voter turnout this time.

The early voting will be from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday at the Washington County Courthouse Annex through February 28^th.  Election Day is March 4^th and there are several contested local races.  Washington Court of Law has the incumbent Matthew Reue with a challenger in Assistant District Attorney Eric Berg.

The open seat for Justice of the Peace Precinct Four has three candidates in the Republican primary.  Bill Kendal, Robin Luedtke and Val Kiecke are vying for the positon.  Incumbent James McCune is stepping down.

Incumbent Precinct Three Justice of the Peace Roy May is running for re-election but he has a challenger in Ken Tofel. 

In the Precinct Two Justice of the Peace contest, incumbent Douglas Cone is facing Dennis Todd in the Republican primary.  The winner will face Democrat Duane Olney in Novemer.

There are several statewide races with multiple contenders meaning runoff elections will be likely.
