EARLY VOTING BEGINS MONDAY FOR RUNOFF ELECTION

Early voting begins next Monday for the runoff election in Washington County.

One local seat is up for grabs – the Republican nomination for County Commissioner in Precinct One between incumbent Zeb Heckmann and challenge Don Koester.

The winner will face Democrat Lewis Houser in the November general election.

According to County Clerk Beth Rothermel, early voting will run from Monday the 16th through Friday the 20th, with no weekend voting scheduled.  Election Day is Tuesday, May 24th.

There are three state-wide races on the Republican ballot: Railroad Commissioner between Gary Gates and Wayne Christian; Judge for Court of Criminal Appeals Place 2 between Ray Wheless and Mary Lou Keel; and Judge for Court of Criminal Appeals Place 5 between Scott Walker and Brent Webster.

On the Democratic ballot, the lone race is for Railroad Commissioner between Cody Garrett and Grady Yarborough.

Rotermel says anyone requesting a ballot by mail must submit their application by this Friday.
