EARLY VOTING TO BEGIN TODAY

Early voting in Washington County will begin today at the Washington County Courthouse Annex from 8am to 5 all this week.

The local races include the Washington County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1 race between Republican Doug Zwiener and Democrat Ophelia Whiting Howard.

JP Precinct 2 Democrat Duane Olney running against Republican Doug Cone.

Washington County Commissioner Precinct 2 race for the Republican Party is Luther Hueske, and Democrat Margarette Boswell.

Among the top state-wide races is the much publicized governor’s race between Greg Abbot and Wendy Davis, and for Lieutenant Governor between Dan Patrick and Leticia Van de Putte.

Also of particular interest will be the race for state comptroller in which local state representative Glen Hegar is expected to win the post, which would result in a special election for his state senator’s position.

District 13 state representative Lois Kolkhorst has already announced that she will run for that position if it comes open.

Early voting ends Friday, October 31st. Election day is Tuesday, November 4th. As always, KWHI will have extensive coverage of election results.
