EARLY VOTING TOPS 2000 IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

Over 2000 people have now cast their ballots in early voting for next Tuesday’s Washington County Primaries.

According to County Clerk Beth Rothermel, a total of 2078 voters have cast early ballots – 1776 in the Republican Primary, while 302 have cast votes in the Democrat races.

Wednesday was the busiest day so far, with 415 people voting at the Courthouse Annex in downtown Brenham – 363 Republicans and 52 Democrats.

In addition to the national and state-wide races, just two local races are being contested locally: Precinct-One County Commissioner and Precinct-Four Constable – both in the Republican Primary.

Incumbent Precinct-One Commissioner Zeb Heckmann is facing a challenge from Marsha Shelton and Don Koester.  Precinct-Four Constable Mark Kramer is being challenged by Lee Auguston.

Early voting continues through Friday at the Courthouse Annex, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday voting will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  KWHI will have live coverage of all the results beginning at 7:00 p.m.
