EARLY VOTING UNDERWAY IN SPECIAL ELECTION

  

Early Voting is off to a fast start locally in the special election for District-18 State Senator.

Washington County Clerk Beth Rothermel says a line was forming at ballot box before voting began at 8:00 this (Wednesday) morning.

Local State Representative Lois Kolkhorst is one of five candidates to succeed Glen Hegar—who was elected State Comptroller on November 4th.

Kolkhorst is facing four other candidates for the position including:  Republicans, Gary Gates and Charles Gregory, both businessmen from Richmond; along with two Democrats, Richmond business-owner Cindy Drabek and Rosenberg attorney Christina Hawkins.

Early Voting began this morning at 8 a.m. in the Washington County Courthouse Annex and will continue until 5:00.  Voting Saturday will take place from 9 am to 1 pm; Sunday from Noon to 2 pm; and Monday & Tuesday from 8 am to 5 pm.

Rothermel also says, Ballots by Mail should be mailed back to the County Clerk's office as soon as possible due to the quickness of this election.  Ballots by Mail cannot be brought back and handed in by the voter, they must be mailed back.

Election day is Saturday, December 6th from 7 am to 7 pm.
