EFFECTS OF LOCAL LAYOFFS SHOW UP IN JUNE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE

  

The effects of layoffs at several businesses in town in now being reflected in June’s unemployment rate.

The unemployment rate for June stands at 5.2%, up 1.3% from May’s rate of 3.9 %.

The rate is a result of several companies laying off workers from places such as Blue Bell, Stanpac, Valmont, and MIC.

In June of 2014, the unemployment rate was 5.1%, one-half of a percent lower than the June 2015 rate.

In Austin County, June’s unemployment rate came in at 4.6 %, one-tenth of a percent higher than May’s rate of 4.1%.

In June of 2014, the Austin County unemployment rate stood at 5 percent, 4 tenths of a percent higher than June 2015.

Burleson County’s unemployment rate for June 2015 stands at 4.8 percent, which is 7 tenths of a percent higher than the May 2015 rate of 4.1 percent.

In June of 2014, the Burleson County rate stood at 5.2 percent, four tenths of a percent higher than June of 2015.

For the Brazos Valley, the June 2015 unemployment rate stands at 4.3 percent, up 7-tenths of a percent from May’s rate of 3.6 percent.

In June of 2014, the Brazos Valley unemployment rate was 4.8 percent, one half of a percent higher from June 2015.
