EIGHT PLEAD GUILTY TO FELONY OFFENSES IN 21ST DISTRICT COURT

  

Four persons plead guilty to felony offenses and received terms ranging from probation to prison terms in the 21st Judicial District Court of Washington County, according to Julie Renken, District Attorney.

Judge Carson Campbell adjudicated the following cases:

Twenty-four-year old John Evans, of Brenham, plead guilty to Assault Family Member Impeded

Breath/Circulation from December 3, 2014. Evans was sentenced to four years deferred adjudication probation, $570 fine, court cost, court-appointed attorney fee, $100 to a Family Violence Center, drug/alcohol evaluation and treatment, batterer’s intervention class, no contact with the victim, 100 hours community service restitution, and provide DNA and urinalysis sample.

Twenty-seven-year old James Charles McRae, of Bellville, plead guilty to Theft of Copper from October 9, 2013. McRae was sentenced to two years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, probated for three years, pay court cost, $27,850 restitution, 150 hours of community service restitution, drug/alcohol evaluation and treatment, and provide DNA and urinalysis sample.

Twenty-eight-year old Curtis Killian of Hempstead, plead guilty to possession of a Controlled Substance from September 6, 2013. Killian had his probation revoked and was sentenced to 13 months in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, pay a $1500 fine, court cost, his court-appointed attorney fee, pay a $50 Crime Stoppers fee, and a $140 lab fee.

Thirty-six-year old Gregory Ledwell, of Houston, plead guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance from September 2013. Ledwell was sentenced to 14 months in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, fined $1500, court cost, and a $50 Crime Stoppers fee.

  1. when a person gets a tougher penalty for stealing copper then someone who assaulted and chocked someone, Something is wrong with our system. Theft of copper sentenced to two years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, probated for three years, pay court cost, $27,850 restitution, 150 hours of community /impeded Breath/Circulation . sentenced to four years deferred adjudication probation, $570 fine, court cost, court-appointed attorney fee, $100 to a Family Violence Center, drug/alcohol evaluation and treatment, batterer’s intervention class, no contact with the victim, 100 hours community service

  2. Just horrible people living among the law abiding citizens. What is even more sad is that these cases stemmed from 2013…..Is this how far backed up we are in our local courthouse!
