ELECTION DAY 2014
Today is Election Day across the state and across the nation.
Locally, voters will be going to the polls to vote on three contested races and a number of state-wide campaigns.
In Washington County one commissioners’ seat is up for grabs: In Precinct-2, incumbent Republican Luther Hueske faced Democrat challenger Margarette Boswell.
Two Justice of the Peace positions are on the ballot. In Precinct-1, incumbent Republican Doug Zwiener faces Democrat Ophelia Whiting-Howard. In Precinct-2 Republican incumbent Douglas Cone takes on Democrat Duane Olney.
Of state-wide interest, the governor’s race includes Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott and Democrat State Senator Wendy Davis.
The Lieutenant-Governor’s race pits Republican Dan Patrick against Democrat Leticia Van de Putte.
In the race for State Comptroller, current local State Senator Glen Hager is expected to defeat three other candidates. If that holds true, then there will be a special election for Hager’s State Senate seat the District-13 State Representative Lois Kolkhorst of Brenham has already declared for.
