ELECTION DAY IN BURTON, CALDWELL AND NAVASOTA

With a new election law and the upcoming general election, most communities in Texas, including Brenham, will not have a school board or municipal elections today (Saturday).  Not so, in Burton, Caldwell and Navasota.

The Burton School District is holding a school board election.  Five candidates are running for three positions on the Burton School Board.

Incumbents Nicole Harmel and Misty Goldberg Lucherk have filed for re-election to the school board. Ande Bostain, Felton W. Cox and Jeff Harmel hope to be newcomers to the board.  The top three voter getters will serve.

Caldwell School District voters are deciding on a $5.7 million bond package.  The district’s elementary school has had a mold problem and the eradication program is part of this election.

Teachers and students have relocated to several Caldwell churches until the problems are solved.  Staff members and students had complained of rashes, sinus infections and headaches.

Also going to the polls today (Saturday), are voters in the Navasota school district.  They are deciding on a $60 million bond issue.

This bond package includes major renovations and additions to the Navasota schools.
