TWELVE SENTENCED IN DISTRICT COURT

  

District Attorney Julie Renken reports that 12 people plead guilty in District Court this week and were sentenced by Judge Carson Campbell:

Courtney Williams, 23 of Brenham, was sentenced to 5 years in prison for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  Williams was arrested in August of last year after she attempted to run a person over with her vehicle.  She also had her probation adjudicated for a previous conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury to a family member.

Sharlet Dorell McClain, 42 of Brenham had her probation adjudicated for a 2012 conviction for exploitation of elderly and was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Three people were co-defendants in an engaging in organized criminal activity case:

John Thomas Howard, 24 of Brenham was sentenced to 2 years in state jail.   He also had his probation revoked for a 2015 evading arrest conviction and was sentenced to 2 years in prison.

Sammy Demone Madison Jr., 23 of Brenham was sentenced to 18 months in state jail.  He also received the same sentence for burglary of a building that occurred in 2014.

Trenton Dewayne Howard, 27 of Washington Texas was sentenced to 4 years’ probation.

Mikel Sowders, 35 of Somerville was sentenced to 2 years in prison for tampering or fabricating physical evidence.

Mark Anthony Farmer, 36 of Somerville was sentenced to 8 months in state jail for delivery of a controlled substance.

Peaches Campbell, 30 of Hempstead had her probation revoked for a 2013 forgery conviction and was sentenced to 7 months in state jail.

Sammy Early Daniels, 25 of Brenham was sentenced to 5 years deferred adjudication probation for indecency with a child and sexual assault of a child.  He also must register as a sex offender for life.

Robert Polcyn, 25 of Spring was sentenced to 4 years deferred adjudication probation for possession of a controlled substance.

Debra Kay Johnson, 45 of Caldwell was sentenced to 3 years probation for possession of a controlled substance.

Brian Keith Chenault, 44 of Burton was sentenced to 18 months deferred adjudication probation for a misdemeanor deadly conduct charge.  He is also ordered not to respond to an emergency in any capacity as a volunteer firefighter.  Chenault was involved in a traffic accident in 2014 while serving as a Burton volunteer fireman.  He was en route to direct traffic around another accident when he struck a vehicle injuring both the driver and the passenger.

  1. The community never got the true story on this. Most of the was lies. If he was not guilty than why did he pled guilty.

  2. Sad for Brian Chenault. A man trying to do an honest community service duty gets this type of conviction!!! Come on our local justice. This man went to many fire calls and remember volunteering. Isn’t it as much his fault as the other party?

    1. We read a lot of press releases and info in the media about prosecution, but I’ve yet to read anything where a crime committed against a victim is the victim’s “fault.”

      I’d be willing to bet the facts support the conviction. He did plead guilty, after all.
