The Washington County Commissioners Court approved a proclamation proclaiming May 15th-21st as Emergency Medical Services week in Washington County. The Washington County EMS was also recognized for resuscitating 11 year old Mariana Cosino from sudden cardiac arrest after electrocution.

On March 29th, Mariana was playing hide and seek when she chose a hiding spot between an air condition unit and a house. This particular hiding spot lead to her electrocution sending her into cardiac arrest.

Washington County EMS Director, Kevin Deramus says that Mariana’s day started out like any other 11 year old.

Statistics show that Mariana had an 8% chance of survival. Due to the quick and efficient work of Washington County dispatch, paramedics, and physicians, Mariana is a bright and happy 11 year old girl.

  1. I agree that Wash-Co EMS is one of the best in the country and the medics employed by Wash-Co are awesome and need to be recognized. However, does anybody realize that the week of May 15th through May 21st is National Police Week. It has been scenes 1962.
