EVACUATION RECOMMENDED FOR LOW LYING AREAS OF AUSTIN CO.

Evacuation from flood prone areas of Austin Co. is urgently recommended for the public’s safety before leaving is impossible. Evacuation during daylight hours is recommended.

The slow movement of Tropical Storm Harvey will result in continuing rainfall over Austin County, predicted to be as high as 20 inches during the next 24 to 36 hours which will result in additional flooding.

Officials say the area that flooded in 2015 or 2016, will flood again this time. Predicted rain fall from Monday 7 am to Tuesday 7 am will be 8 to 12 inches.

For the safety of family and first responders, those living in low areas need to evacuate to higher ground now before the roads are impassable and homes floods.
