BVCAA Head Start is accepting applications for the preschool program (2014-2015) that provides comprehensive educational social services to eligible children. Head Start provides a rich, developmentally appropriate educational curriculum, social services to help with everyday needs of life; mental health services, and nutrition services. Documents needed; proof of income for the past 12 months – child’s birth certificate – immunization record – child’s insurance cards – photo ID for parent. The Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library will close to the public at 7:00pm Thursday, April 14, 2014 and will reopen at 8:00am Monday, May 12th in its new location at City Hall, 200 W. Vulcan, Brenham, TX. The phone number will remain the same, 979 337-7201 as will the web address, cityofbrenham.org/library. Library materials may be returned to the existing book drop at 100 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway until the relocation is complete on May 12th. At that time library materials should be returned to the new library location on Vulcan. Library services are being relocated to City Hall for a period of 12 – 18 months, so the City along with its private partner, the Fortnightly Club of Brenham can modernize the existing facility. During this relocation period, library services such as computer access, weekly children’s programming, and book access will be housed at City Hall. Special events such as opening and closing days of Summer Reading will be offered at Fireman’s Park Kitchen. Genealogy services will be offered through the Brenham Heritage Museum. With a Library card in good standing, patrons may access Tex Share databases and eBooks through the City’s Website

Brenham High School Project Graduation 2014 Fundraiser * Take your cans/metal/scrap materials to Premier Metal Buyers and donate the cash proceeds to the BHS Project Graduation fund raising campaign, ongoing through the end of school.

New Life Family Life Center Tutoring Program – Assisting children in math, science, Language Arts, reading and social studies. Essay writing, proof-reading and editing, 4:30-5:45pm, Monday and Wednesday nights. Adults are also welcome.

CARS- Children Are Really Special -  is a reading intervention program for students at Alton Elementary (277-3490), Brenham Elementary (277.3885), and Krause Elementary Schools (277.3866).  As a CARS mentor, you will work one-on-one with a child who needs your help in becoming a better reader.  Sessions are Monday thru Friday
