Texas Antique Tractor Show & Pull Kickoff

January 13, 2017 - January 14, 2017

The Texas Antique Tractor Show & Pull Kickoff is here again!  The action packed weekend starts on Friday, January 13 at 5 PM at the Wilbur Baber Memorial Complex in Hallettsville.  The Show & Pull is held in the indoor comfort of the William and Alton Allen Exposition Center.  There will be a variety of vendors with crafts and part items and plenty of concessions.  Friday night’s pull will feature exhibition pulls with the theme ‘Straight Out of the Field’ from 7-10 PM.  The arena floor will be filled with displays of antique and classic farm machinery; tractors, stationary engines, and demonstrations.  Saturday, January 14 continues the excitement starting at 10 AM with the competition pulls beginning.  At 1 PM, a Tractor Parade down the main track features meticulously restored tractors and equipment in action.  At 3 PM is the popular Kiddie Pedal Tractor Pull.  See pedal power at its best as the kids pedal their turn to be the 2017 champions.  The pull continues into the evening hours with some of the most amazing modified tractors in the state racing down the track.  View pictures and videos of past shows and for all other information on the website, www.txtractorpull.com.  The proceeds from the pull will benefit the Hallettsville American Legion, Post #230.

The Pull takes place on a dirt track on the arena floor. The tractors pull a weight transfer sled owned and operated by HWH Pull Sled from Stephenville, Texas.  The sled is self-propelled with a weight box that moves up the frame putting pressure on the sled pan, which is sliding along the ground.  The more weight put on the pan, the more friction applied to the ground, thus slowing and eventually stopping the tractor. The tractor pulling the farthest, measured by a digital counter on the sled wheel, wins its division. The tractors in the competition (all prior to 1970) are classed by weight.  Each weight class has 5 divisions.  Divisions are determined by weights and engine modifications.  The divisions are: Div. 1: Farm Stock; Div. 2: Modified; Div. 3: Highly Modified; Div. 4: Super Modified; Div. 5: Open. The Pull follows Texas Tractor Pullers, Association rules.  The competition pulls on Saturday will begin with the entire Farm Stock division pulling first, followed by the divisions 2-5 in each weight category starting at the lightest category pulling first. The rules can be viewed on the pull website.
