EVENTS OUTLINED FOR WEEK 2 OF ROUND TOP MUSIC FESTIVAL

  

The Young Persons’ Concert highlights the second week of events in the Round Top Music Festival.

Taking place at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Tuesday) in the Festival Concert Hall, The Young Persons’ Concert will feature work by Camille Saint-Saëns (Sans) and Richard Strauss, conducted by Emilio Colón and narrated by James VanDemark.  The event is open to the public, free of charge, with no reservations necessary.  Concert hall doors open at 10 a.m.

Other events this week include the Violin Master Class with Nancy Wu, today (Monday) at the Edythe Bates Old Chapel from 1:30 – 3 p.m.  There will also be a Viola Master Class on Wednesday at 1:30, held with Brett Deubner, and a Bassoon Master Class on Thursday at 1:30, with Drew Pattison.  Master classes are free and open to the public.

Saturday will play host to a cello recital with Emilio Colón at 1:30 p.m. in the Edythe Bates Chapel, along with the Chamber Music Concert at 3:30 in the Concert Hall.  The Texas Festival Orchestra at 7:30 will round out the weekend’s events.  The orchestra, featuring young artists in residence, will perform under conductor Yaniv Dinur. Violinist Regis Pasquier will join the orchestra in the performance of Prokofiev's (pro-KOH-fee-ev) Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 2 in g, Op. 63.  The orchestra will also perform work from Benjamin Britten and P.I. Tchaikovsky (chy-KAWF-skee).

All concerts and master classes are held on the Festival Hill Campus at 248 Jaster Road, in Round Top.  Tickets are available online at festivalhill.org.
