EXCHANGE STUDENTS FROM CHINA TO VISIT BRENHAM SATURDAY
A group of exchange students from China will get a taste of life in Brenham this weekend- both literally and figuratively.
Faith Mission in Brenham will host a luncheon for the students at the Cannery Kitchen in Brenham Saturday. Rev. Randy Wells of Faith Mission says they will be serving barbeque and Blue Bell ice cream so the students can experience some of what Brenham has to offer.
The students are part of an exchange program put on by Prairie View A&M University’s Confucius Institute, The Honors Program. Dr. James Wilson Jr. leads the program at Prairie View University and explains what happens when these students return to China:
Last year, another group of students from China also visited Brenham and the organizers specifically asked to visit Brenham again this year. Dr. Wilson explains why:
The group of 20 Chinese students were chosen from the 30,000 students at Xi’an International Studies University. The group will be in the United States for about a month. During that time they will be traveling to a variety of locations to experience life in this country.
The students visited Horseshoe Junction. I was there for a child’s birthday when they arrived. A really nice group of young persons who were definitely having fun with this rural Texas experience. The exchange student programs are one of the best tools available for a better than average education. Would be great requirement for any Masters degree issued. The entire world benefits.
Did the students visit Washington on the Brazos? It is the place WHERE TEXAS BECAME TEXAS!
We’ve been there in the morning of the same day! It absolutely is an exceptional experience in Texas. We love the trip to Washington and cannery kitchen, and the people we’ve met there are so nice!
