FAMILY OF KYLE FIELD CONSTRUCTION WORKER AWARD $53-MILLION

A Houston jury has awarded over $53-million to the family of a construction worker killed at Kyle field in 2013.

28-year old Angel Garcia was operating a skid loader on the fourth floor of Kyle Field, when a large section of concrete fell on the loader, sending Garcia to the stadium floor.

According to the Gibson Law Firm of Houston, three-quarters of the money will come from the Manhattan Vaughn, JVP Construction Group, which headed up the project.  The rest will come from Lindamood Demolition Inc..

The suit was filed on behalf of Garcia’s mother and his two children.

Texas A&M was not part of the suit.

  1. That is insane, $53,000,000!!! I have no doubt the family deserved something substantial for the loss they suffered, but to make them insanely wealthy is crazy. This is just another example of why we still need more tort reform.

    1. Doesn’t seem likely to me that the family will actually receive the entire $53 million — not after legal fees. Would you be surprised if they only ended up receiving $3 million?
