VICTIMS IN FATAL LEE COUNTY CRASH IDENTIFIED

  

Two people were killed in an accident Saturday morning on Highway 77, six miles south of Giddings.

According to DPS, 50-year-old Dwayne Allen Holder of Giddings and 48-year-old Wendy Rodgers of Whitewright were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Just after 10:15 a.m., Stephen Rodgers was driving northbound on Highway 77 in a 2015 Toyota SUV, which was towing another vehicle on a trailer behind it. Authorities say Wendy Rodgers was in the passenger seat. According to the accident report, the vehicle hydroplaned and veered into oncoming traffic.

The Rodger’s vehicle collided with a 2006 GMC Envoy, driven by Dwayne Holder.

Wendy Rodgers and Dwayne Allen Holder were pronounced dead at the scene just after 11 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Mike York.

Stephen Rodgers, along with two children who were passengers in his car, were taken to the hospital in Austin with serious injuries.

A fatal accident that happened this Saturday at the Lee-Fayette county line is under investigation.

The accident occurred on Highway 77 when two vehicles collided. While Lee County has confirmed there were two fatalities, there are no other details available at the time.
