FAYETTE CO. NARCOTICS UNIT CONFISCATES OVER 20 KILOS OF METH

A Fayette County Narcotics K-9 Unit seized 21 kilos of methamphetamines on a traffic stop this weekend.

Friday, around 11 a.m., Sergeant Randy Thumann and K-9 partner Lobos stopped a Saturn SUV on Interstate 10 for a traffic violation.  After speaking to the driver and passenger, Sgt. Thumann became suspicious that the vehicle was being used to carry illegal drugs from Mexico to Houston.

Upon being given consent to search the vehicle, Sgt. Thumann and Lobos discovered that the vehicle’s gas tank was being used to hide packages of methamphetamine.  Approximately 21 kilos of meth were removed, valuing at an estimated $2.1 million.

The driver, 26-year-old Mercedes Galvan, and passenger, 24-year-old Ilse Solis from Laredo, were charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.  They were taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
