The two persons claimed to be traveling from the border enroute to Katy for shopping and supplies but Kretz became suspicious of the two when they gave inconsistent information in regards to their relationship and other common information.

Kretz received consent to search the vehicle which revealed numerous bundles of cocaine. The bundles weighed approximately 81 pounds and had a street value of approximately $3.67 million.

The two were taken into custody and booked into the Fayette County Justice Center. The couple was traveling with two children, ages 13 and 6. The children were later released to the Texas Department of Regulatory Services for housing and placement until family members could be notified.
