FAYETTE COUNTY NARCOTICS K-9 UNIT SEIZES 177 LBS OF MARIJUANA

  

The Fayette County Narcotics K-9 Unit have made another large drug bust during a traffic stop.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Friday July 24 around 8:25am, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Canine Unit stopped a silver Chevy passenger car on Interstate 10 at the 659 mile-marker for a traffic violation. After contact with the driver was made, several criminal indicators were observed and consent to search the vehicle was obtained.

Deputy Randy Thumann deployed his canine “Lobos” who alerted to the trunk of the vehicle.  Deputy Thumann opened the trunk and observed the trunk was full of marijuana bundles. 15 bundles of marijuana, weighing approximately 177 pounds, were removed from the trunk.

Forty-two-year old Javier Rodriguez of Zapata was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.
