FAYETTE COUNTY REPONDS TO SEVERAL WEATHER-RELATED INCIDENTS

  

Saturday afternoon Fayette County Deputies responded to several weather related incidents, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.

Around 4:24 pm, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting an oil storage tank on fire at 5200 State Hwy 159 at South Wind Farms near Fayetteville.

The Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene, along with Deputy Ben Wilson. Upon arrival Fayetteville Fire department reported the storage tank had blown and was on its side fully engulfed, with about 1 acre of grass burning. Mutual Aid was requested from the Round-Top Warrenton Fire Department for a Grass Truck to assist with the grass fire and they responded to the scene.

The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no reported injuries.

While on the scene around 4: 42 pm Fayette County Deputy David Smith and Sgt. Charles Jobb responded with the Ellinger Fire Department to a report of 10 cars in high water on FM 2503 near Ross Prairie Church Rd.

Upon arrival it was discovered just the high water was running over the roadway and there were no trapped vehicles. Ellinger Fire Department requested Fayetteville Fire Department bring one truck to assist in barricading the roadway due to high water.

The Texas Department of Transportation was notified and also responded and assisted with barricades.
