FAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE INTERRUPTS DRUG DEAL IN PROGRESS

  

On Friday, July 17, at approximately 2:15 pm, members of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office were attempting to serve a felony warrant on a subject observed in the Wal-Mart parking lot and interrupted a drug deal in progress, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek

Investigator Robert Dryden, Investigator Angela Lala, Deputy Perry Kram, and Deputy Casey Thumann were conducting surveillance in an attempt to serve a felony warrant on Brittany Beard, 30 yrs of age, from Round Top, when a suspicious subject was observed getting into the vehicle which Beard was waiting in after she flagged the subject’s vehicle down.

A take down was conducted on the vehicles by Law Enforcement and the suspicious subject fled from the vehicle but was apprehended after a brief struggle.  It was determined that the subject also threw methamphetamine under a vehicle when being apprehended.

Twenty-three-year old Rome Kass, of La Grange, was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Possession of Marijuana.

Brittany Beard was charged with the Felony Warrant of Manufacturing or Delivering a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), a new charge of Manufacturing or Delivering a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), and Possession of Marijuana.

Thirty-three year old Jonathan Furman, of Glidden, was arrested on a charge of Unlawful Carrying a Weapon.

A 16 year old juvenile that was in Kass’s vehicle was cited for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and later released to a parent.
