FAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT

  

 

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of January 2015.

Deputy Rick Bohlmann responded to a residence in the Flatonia area where a large amount of items were stolen. Bohlmann also responded to property off of O’Quinn Branch Road where a power line company truck caused damage to a waterline. The company was contacted and the damages done were paid to the property owner.

Deputy Ben Wilson stopped a vehicle for an expired inspection sticker. The driver of the vehicle did not have a driver’s license or insurance on the vehicle and he was arrested. Wilson also responded to an address in the Ledbetter for illegal dumping. The person responsible for the dumping was located and a citation was issued.

Deputy Marc Bennett responded to a burglary off of Mueller Road where numerous items were stolen. Bennett also responded to Justice Road for a burglary of a habitation where two guns and some cash were taken.

Sergeant Ron Naumann responded to the Fayetteville Square for criminal mischief. Unknown persons broke halogen lights near the courthouse and “trashed” the restrooms between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Naumann also responded to a grass fire in the Warda area that was caused by a previous controlled burn the day prior. Investigator Angela Lala currently is working several CPS cases with physical and sexual abuse allegations.

Deputy Perry Kram stopped a vehicle on State Highway 71 near West Point for speeding. Further investigation resulted in the driver of the vehicle being arrested for DWI.

Investigator Robert Dryden is currently working a burglary of a habitation which occurred off of State Highway 95 North where numerous Coach Brand purses and handbags were taken. Dryden also took a theft report of tools taken from property off of Kovar Road. A suspect was developed and interviewed by Dryden. A confession was obtained and tools stolen were recovered.

Sgt. Charles Jobb responded to an address in Fayetteville for a theft of a garden tool rack. Jobb also responded to Zilss Road where the railroad intersects in Winchester for a trespasser on a train. The male subject was arrested. Deputy Josh Berger conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in La Grange. Further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Deputy David Smith stopped a vehicle on State Highway 71 for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle had two active warrants out of Travis County. Further investigation resulted in marijuana being located in the vehicle. The driver was arrested on the warrants and also charged with possession of marijuana. Smith also took a report of a stolen pistol from a complainant in the Frisch “Auf” area. The gun was already in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office as it was recovered with numerous other stolen items when a string of vehicle burglaries was solved by the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Daitwan Walker responded to a disturbance at a residence off of Finke Road. There one person was arrested for assault family violence. Walker also responded to St. Mark’s Emergency Room where a patient was being treated for a stab wound. Investigation resulted in a female juvenile being arrested and transported to the Victoria Juvenile Facility.

Deputy Joe Martin responded to an address off of Old Hallettsville Road for an “ATV” accident. The driver of the vehicle lost control and it overturned.  Martin also responded to property off of US Hwy 90 in the Schulenburg area for a tractor fire. The fire started in the engine compartment.

Deputy Michael Otten responded to an address off of FM 3233 in reference to theft of dog and dog house. Otten also responded to an eighteen wheeler stopped in the lane of traffic on State Highway 71 near the Plum Wall. The driver of the truck was arrested for DWI and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The following day it was learned that the firearm in which was recovered by Otten had actually been stolen.

Deputy Mark Zimmermann stopped a vehicle on State Highway 71 near La Grange for speeding. Further investigation lead to the driver of the vehicle being arrested for possession of a controlled substance and marijuana.

Deputy Kenn Kretz assisted the Schulenburg Police Department with stopping a vehicle reported by Lavaca County Authorities to be in possession of stolen computer equipment from the Wal-Mart in Hallettsville.

Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 62 individuals for the month of January and transported 2 individuals to the Texas Department of Corrections Facilities to begin serving time for crimes committed in Fayette County.

Fayette County Deputies traveled 58,640 miles, answering 475 calls for service, and filing 83 incident/offense reports.  Deputies served 43 civil papers, and made 10 felony and 13 misdemeanor arrests. Justice of Peace Courts collected $35,060.64 as a result of deputy activities.
