FAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT

  

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of March 2015. Deputy Rick Bohlmann took a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle occurred in the Cistern area. Two pieces of heavy machinery was driven from property and left stuck in a nearby ditch. Bohlmann also met with a female in the Muldoon area who was being harassed by an ex-boyfriend. The ex-boyfriend was located, counseled on further acts of harassment and he received a criminal trespass warning for the complainant’s property.

Deputy Ben Wilson met with a female in the Ledbetter area who reported that her daughter had not come home from the night before. The female later returned home. Wilson also responded to a residence in Winchester for a burglary where jewelry and electronics were taken. Deputy Marc Bennett responded to the Fayetteville Store for a shoplifting where juveniles entered the store and stole some jerky. The juveniles received citations for the theft. Bennett also responded to a disturbance off of Concho Trail. The male was arrest for assault family violence.

Sergeant Ron Naumann responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Old Plum Highway and Prairie Valley Road. Damages to a fence were sustained and restitution to the property owner was made by the driver of the vehicle. Investigator Angela Lala investigated an estray horse located on property off of Salem-Freyburg Road. If no claim is made of the horse it will be set for sale. Lala is also working an alleged reported sexual assault of a child.

Investigator Robert Dryden checked on an abandoned vehicle on Truesdale Road. The vehicle was found to be a traffic hazard and was impounded with a letter sent to the registered owner. Dryden also checked on a suspicious person on FM 2145. The person was found to be part of a work crew who was waiting on his employer. Sergeant Charles Jobb responded to the Warrenton Fire Department for an illegally parked vehicle which was blocking the doors of the station. Prior to arrival the vehicle had left. Jobb also responded to a reported accident involving a vehicle on Interstate 10 near Flatonia. No accident was located. 

Deputy Josh Berger stopped a vehicle on State Highway 159 near Rocky Creek Road for an equipment violation. Investigations during the stop led to the driver being arrested for possession of marijuana and tamper/fabricate evidence after the driver attempted to discard the marijuana. Deputy David Smith responded to a structure fire in the Carmine area. The house was a total loss and no casualties were reported. Investigation was turned over to the State Fire Marshall’s Office. Smith also checked on a suspicious vehicle occupied by a white female parked on Interstate 10. Investigations lead to the arrest of the female for possession of a controlled substance.

Deputy Garrett Durrenberger located a vehicle and driver of the vehicle which was reportedly “mudding” on Plum Church Road. The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation for criminal mischief. Durrenberger also assisted with a vehicle accident on State Highway 71. While on scene Durrenberger located marijuana in the vehicle and an arrest was made for possession of marijuana. Deputy Daitwan Walker responded to a vehicle accident on Interstate 10 near Schulenburg. Investigation into the accident led to the driver being arrested for driving while intoxicated. Walker also investigated an assault that took place at a business in the Flatonia area. Two employees were involved in the assault and received citations.

Deputy Joe Martin responded to the Round Top area during the Antique Festival for a suspicious male walking in the middle of the roadway. Martin located the male who appeared to be mentally disturbed. The male was detained and screen by mental health services. The male was later cleared by mental health. Investigator Jeremy Castleberry responded to State Highway 71 for an accident. Upon arrival the driver of the vehicle was found to be mentally ill and transported to a hospital for further treatment.

Deputy Michael Otten responded to property off of East Parker Road for a reported trespasser. Information was obtained about a male who was previously warned to stay off of property. A warrant was obtained and the male was later arrested for trespassing. Otten also responded to a residence off of State Highway 159 in reference to an assault. Investigation resulted in a warrant being issued for the suspect who was subsequently arrested. Deputy Mark Zimmerman met with a complainant in reference to a theft of funds from a banking account which an unknown person accessed. A report was made and sent to the fraud department of the bank.  

Deputy Ken Kretz stopped a vehicle on US Hwy 90 and investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Kretz also made an arrested on a wanted person from Dewitt County. 

Jail Administrator Edward Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 73 individuals for the month of March and transported 8 individuals to the Texas Department of Corrections Facilities to begin serving time for crimes committed in Fayette County.
